Review by hotel critic
During my recent stay in Great Yarmouth, I had the chance to experience the hospitality at Furzedown, an intriguing option that gracefully straddles the line between luxury and value. Upon arrival, we were greeted warmly by Lisa, who not only checked us in despite our early arrival but also graciously assisted with our luggage up to our sea view room—something to consider if you have mobility issues, as there is no lift. While the room was well-appointed with a flat-screen TV and electric kettle, it wouldn’t quite fit the bill for luxury seekers, particularly if you opt for the smaller economy rooms. The lovely view from our window and the comfortable public spaces, including the inviting bar area, compensated for any spatial shortcomings. Dining at Garrods Restaurant provided a nice touch, with a menu that accommodated special diets and offered a delightful breakfast spread. In terms of value, this hotel presents an attractive proposition with good parking and free Wi-Fi. For those who appreciate a clean and friendly atmosphere without unnecessary extravagance, Furzedown is a solid choice for your Great Yarmouth retreat. It’s recommended to balance your desire for comfort with an eye on your budget.
